There was a time when Nintendo could do no wrong – before it became a pastiche of its former self by constantly mining the nostalgia factor of fans with the same games, and when the company still had popular third party support. In essence, the Super Nintendo really did embody a time when Nintendo lived up to its console’s namesake, and when it was indeed “Super”. Alas however, that’s no longer the case.
Anyway, and in case you didn’t know, the Japanese version of the Super Nintendo was called Super Famicom, with the games sporting really cool cover art. Super Famicom: The Box Art Collection celebrates this by printing a number of distinguishable box covers from Japan and writing about the featured games.
Now normally the hardcover book retails for £25, but right now it can be had for £17.78 (including delivery) – which is a bit of a bargain really. Add to the fact that it’s had some really good reviews, and you know that you’re getting a coffee-table book that’s really something special.
